Ms. Kimber

After several years of asking my parents to learn the piano, I finally started lessons at 9 years old. I have loved making music & playing piano ever since. At 12 years old, I began playing in church and accompanying choir at my Junior High School. I continued to accompany vocal music & began teaching piano at 18.

I'm a fan of nearly every type of music, & I love opening the world of piano for tomorrow's performers. I teach a structured curriculum with fun, laughter, technique, music theory, and a wide variety of music. I studied Piano Performance at a small, private college in Illinois and continued my studies at the graduate level in Music Theory at Arizona State University.

At Arizona State, I had the opportunity to study early music performance and harpsichord with excellent instructors and performers--we focused on J.S. Bach, Rameau, and many other composers from the Baroque Era (1685 - 1750.)

One of my favorite things to teach during lessons is the piano works from great composers: Bartok, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. Together, student & teacher, we select the piece or pieces we want to discover, then the challenge begins. We explore original pieces these composers wrote for their students. And it's not limited to intermediate or advanced students; students with less than a year of lessons may begin working on these fun pieces. Come explore the piano with me!journey.
